If you have worked for at least 12 months (1 year) for a government employer and have been dismissed due to lack of work or illness, your employer is required to register you with Trygghetsstiftelsen. Contact your employer to find out whether you will be registered or already have been. Once we receive the registration, we will contact you by email.
Guidance to find new employment
After your employer has registered you, you will be contacted by one of our advisers who will support you on your way to new employment.
Support for studies
If you are interested in studying, Trygghetsstiftelsen can offer you study guidance. If you want to apply for student finance for transition and retraining (omställningsstudiestöd) from CSN, Trygghetsstiftelsen can support you with a statement on your chosen education.

If your most recent employment is within the government sector and has lasted or will have lasted less than 12 months when it ends, you may be eligible for support from us. This requires that you have not resigned yourselt and that you have had another employment before your government position and that you have worked a total of at least 12 months during the past 24 months. During that time, you must have worked an average of at least 16 hours per week (40%) per month.
The work must also have been your main occupation. Parental leave, national service, sick leave, and periods with student finance for transition and retraining count as acceptable gaps between employments.Counselling to find new employment
We offer counselling to help you find a new job based on your circumstances, interests and skills, as well as the needs of the labour market. If you have reduced health, we can also provide enhanced support, such as help with contacts with public authorities.
You can apply for counselling and enhanced support no earlier than during your final month of employment.

If you have a fixed-term employment with a government employer that has lasted at least 24 months (2 years) when it ends, your employer is obliged to register you with Trygghetsstiftelsen. Contact your employer to find out whether you will be registered or have already been registered. Once we have received the registration, we will contact you by email.

When your employer has registered you, you will be put in touch with one of our advisors who will support you on your way to new employment.

Are you a recently graduated researcher who has been employed for at least two years at a state university or college in Sweden?
If so, you may be eligible for the Avtal om omställning and should be registered by your employer with Trygghetsstiftelsen before potentially applying for a position within the basic support.
Contact your former employer to find out if you qualify for Avtal om omställning. If you are eligible, your employer will register you with us at Trygghetsstiftelsen, and we will get in touch with you.
