If your most recent employment is within the government sector and has lasted or will have lasted less than 12 months when it ends, you may be eligible for support from the Trygghetsstiftelsen. This requires that you have had another employment before your government position, so that you have worked a total of at least 12 months during the past 24 months.
During that time, you must have worked an average of at least 16 hours per week (40%) per month. The work must also have been your main occupation, but parental leave, compulsory military service, sick leave and time with student finance for transition and retraining
are considered exempt periods between employments.
Advice for finding new employment
We offer guidance to help you find new work based on your circumstances, interests, knowledge and skills, as well as the needs of the labour market. If you have reduced health capacity, we can also provide enhanced support, for example by assisting with contacts with public authorities.
You can apply for guidance and enhanced support no earlier than during your final month of employment. Support can be provided if you meet the following conditions at the time of application:
- Your most recent employer must be within the government sector
- You must have worked for a total of at least 12 months during the past 24 months. During that time, you must have worked an average of at least 16 hours per week (40%) per month.
- The work must have been your main occupation. (Parental leave, compulsory military service, sick leave and time with student finance for transition and retraining are considered exempt periods between employments.)

Support for studies
If you are interested in studying, Trygghetsstiftelsen can offer you guidance. If you wish to apply for student finance for transition and retraining (omställningsstudiestöd) from CSN, Trygghetsstiftelsen can give you a statement regarding your chosen course of study.
